This is a 6-a-side competition for boys only. The
winners qualify for the Inner
This is the Association’s premier competition in the
sense that it is the first stage of a nationwide competition, organised by the
ESFA, in which thousands of schools up and down the country take part. This
year the national finals will again take place at Wembley Stadium.
The winners of Sid Harker Cup represent Bermondsey
& Rotherhithe at the
2008/9
Competition:
After an afternoon of thrilling football at
Millwall’s Lions Centre,
Eight teams had started the afternoon hoping to put
their names on the cup having been split into two groups of four. From group
one, St Josephs (with a 100% record) and St James took the top two spots to
book semi final places whilst in group two Redriff also managed a 100&%
record and were followed into the semi finals by Grange. Both semi finals were
tight affairs with Grange pipping St Josephs by a single goal and Redriff
overcoming St James in the last seconds of extra time by three goals to two,
after St James had pegged them back from 2-0 down.
A goal in each half saw Redriff overcome Grange in
the final to win the competition and in doing so secure a place in Saturday’s
Inner

This is a 6-a-side competition for girls only. The
winners qualify for the Inner
Although the overall winner
of the competition will progress to the county final round, the aim of the
local event is to allow schools an opportunity for their girls to play football
against other schools and have fun, so teams of all levels of ability, even if
they have not played a match before, are welcome to enter.
2007/8
Report
Despite the wet weather, the
Bermondsey & Rotherhithe Primary Schools Football Association’s Girls
Winter Tournament managed to go ahead at the SPARK Centre on the Old Kent Road on
Thursday 6th December, with four schools braving the elements and providing an
excellent advert for girls football at primary school level with no shortage of
skill on display and magnificent enthusiasm evident from all schools.
Redriff, seeking to match
their boys success in the Sid Harker Cup, Charles Dickens, last year’s joint
winners Townsend and guest school Surrey Square were the competing schools in
the round robin event which saw unbeaten Redriff and Surrey Square take the top
two places to meet in the final.
The final itself proved to be
a tight affair as two well organised sides fought out an exciting match. Both
teams scored goals early in the first half and although the ball flashed past
both goals late in the game neither side could force a winner meaning the
competition title was shared.

The Bermondsey & Rotherhithe PSFA has teamed up
with the Southwark council backed SPARK facility (located just off the Old Kent
Road opposite the junction with Ilderton Road) to provide an hour and a half of
outdoor 6 a-side football between 4.00 p.m. and 5.30 p.m.
Schools are invited to bring along a squad of players
on one or more of the evenings to take part in matches against the other
schools present on the facilities carpet-surface mini pitches. With two pitches available we have scope for
8 teams per evening and so places are still available for schools wishing to
get involved.
The next sessions are planned for Thursday 20th
November 2008, Thursday 27th November 2008 and Thursday 3rd
December 2008
For further details of how your school can join in
the Thursday evening fun call Bob James on 0208
926 3865 or 07802 428724 or email us at brpsfa@hotmail.co.uk
